The Last
The Last
A short film written and directed by Samuel Levesley-Turner & Andrew Dobson.
Trapped in the ruins of a timeless world, an aging scientist struggles in isolation whilst striving to repair his robot companion. As he tries to crack the technology, his frustrated ambition and loneliness begin to take their toll.
What started with a shared love of science fiction, became more of a character study as Andrew and I found ourselves venturing further into themes of isolation and obsession. What began as a film about a robot at the end of the world, evolved into an allegory of what it is to struggle and obsess over your craft, even at the end of all things.
We directed a 12 person crew on a 1 day shoot at a single location. Before working together on the edit. Once locked, I hunkered down solo to create the CGI character, VFX and UI motion design required for the film.
